  • The Estonian, Erkki-Sven Tüür and the Latvian, Pēteris Vasks are two internationally renowned Baltic composers already well known to Brno audiences ● Tüür’s recent homage to Beethoven (premiered in March 2019 in Finland) is based on a motif from the Coriolan overture and on the composer’s childhood reminiscences ● Vasks’s Neoromantic Concerto for English Horn (1989), reflecting the grace and melancholy of Latvian nature and folklore, is performed by Dominik Wollenweber, a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker ● Personal appearances by both composers TBC ● The resident conductor of the San Francisco Symphony, Christian Reif, conducts the last symphony Schumann composed, in 1850 in five movements, which conveys the composer’s impressions of the landscape and atmosphere of the Rhineland

Under the auspices of the Concerto for English Horn and Orchestra of the prominent Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks Sc. Pole. Gunta Pastore, Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Czech Republic.
