On 2 and 3 March, under the baton of Dennis Russell Davies, Yumi Hwang-Williams will play William Bolcom’s Violin Concerto in D major, and in the following week, on 9 and 10 March, Milan Paľa will be the soloist in Alfred Schnittke’s Fourth Violin Concerto. All three protagonists of these concerts, alongside the pianist, Katarína Paľová, will come together for a chamber concert on 5 March, in which they will perform the second sonatas for violin and piano by the two aforementioned composers: Bolcom’s will be played by Yumi Hwang-Williams and Dennis Russell Davies, and Schnittke’s by Milan Paľa and Katarína Paľová. The violinists will then take on Mieczysław Weinberg’s Sonata for Two Violins and the pianists Bronius Kutavičius’s Debate with a Stranger – a concerto for two pianos and tape.
