Upcoming concerts of 65th season

The centrepiece of this orchestral series is made up of the great symphonies of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries: Johannes Brahms’s and Philip Glass’s Second Symphonies; Miloslav Kabeláč and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Fifth Symphonies; Antonín Dvořák’s Eighth Symphony; and a major event, the premiere performance of the Third Symphony by the internationally recognised Austrian composer Thomas Larcher. The celebrated French violinist Renaud Capuçon will play the Violin Concerto in D major by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, who was born in Brno; and we will hear Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto as interpreted by the Chinese pianist Lauren Zhang, the 2018 winner of the BBC Young Musician Competition.
