Filharmonie Brno was established on 1 January 1956 and performed its first concert that very day. Since then it has held regular New Year concerts (except in 2021, when the event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic), thus symbolically welcoming not just the start of a new year but also celebrating its birthday – in 2025 it will be the orchestra’s 69th. That year, among other things, we will commemorate the 200th birthday of Johann Strauss II, “the Waltz King”.
