Communicating Vessels, world premiere

Communicating Vessels (United Vessels) is a collaborative work by five composers and performers, commissioned by the Exposition of New Music Festival. The hour-long acoustic experience is designed for the unique location of a pair of Brno water towers, which visitors will be able to explore acoustically and spatially. The combined vessels thematize and “celebrate” the preservation of substances of different physical states that have become commonplace in our everyday lives to the point that we hardly notice them. A glass, a coffee mug, a jar or a water bucket may be evolving at a very slow pace, but they are indispensable objects in our lives. A sentient and thinking person, whose mind can be filled with different contents, is also referred to as a vessel. As in the case of hydrostatic pressure, it is not the amount of “liquid” that matters for man, but the depth of the vessel…
