Event Details

Brno audiences had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the oeuvre of Benjamin Yusupov (born 22 November 1962) in the 2014/2015 season, when this Tajik Jew who settled in Israel was the resident artist at Filharmonie Brno. During that season, several of his major works were performed, often featuring elements that audiences find appealing, such as hints of traditional music of Central Asia, tango and rock, seldom-heard instruments and tape loops. At one of the concerts, Yusupov presented himself in the triple role of composer, conductor and pianist.

The composer’s 60th birthday provided us with an opportunity to re-invite him to Brno. On the eve of the orchestral concert at Janáček Theatre, a chamber concert will be held at Besední dům, offering an attractive selection of Yusupov’s more intimate pieces.
