Dear listeners,
Our Špilberk Open-Air Festival is fast approaching. From August 17 to 23, we’ll be gathering under the open sky in the large courtyard of Špilberk Castle. Here’s some practical information that will come in handy before you head to the concert.
WHEN TO ARRIVE
Concerts start at 8:00 p.m.; the courtyard opens at 7:30 p.m.
You can purchase refreshments on site, as well as our CDs, T-shirts, and other philharmonic merchandise.
In case of inclement weather, we also sell raincoats for 30 Kč.
We recommend bringing cash—cell phone reception is weak in the courtyard, so card payments may not always work.
HOW TO GET TO THE CASTLE
You can get to Špilberk:
on foot from the city center, for example from Husova, Pellicova, Úvoz, or Údolní streets
via the wheelchair-accessible route from Gorazdova Street,
or by using our free shuttle service. Starting at 6:30 p.m., KIA passenger cars provided by PEMM, a festival partner, will take you up to the castle. The pickup point is at the lower end of the park on Husova Street, across from the Hotel International.
Seating capacity is limited, so please be prepared for a possible wait.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Bad weather is a risk that comes with every open-air festival. As a rule, we do not cancel the concert in advance due to weather, even in the event of an unfavorable forecast. A decision on a possible cancellation will be made no earlier than the scheduled start time of the concert, i.e., at 8:00 p.m.
If it is raining before 8:00 p.m., we may postpone the start of the concert. The concert may begin or continue even in the rain, provided conditions allow it and the performers agree.
Please do not use umbrellas during the concert.
