In this documentary, the film director Rudolf Chudoba presents a portrait of Sir Charles Mackerras using archival footage, including film of the conductor’s collaboration with Filharmonie Brno, a 2009 interview and insights from some of his best-known colleagues: Sir Simon Rattle, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Magdalena Kožená and the leading British Janáček scholar John Tyrrell. Following the screening, we present a conversation between Sir Charles Mackerras’s daughter Catherine, the musicologist and Janáček expert Jiří Zahrádka and the film director Rudolf Chudoba.
