Concert program here
The story of Filharmonie Brno starts on 1 January 1956 when the Brno Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Brno Region Symphony Orchestra merged to form the Brno State Philharmonic, which gave its first concert in Stadion Hall in Kounicova street that very day, featuring works by Tchaikovsky under the baton of Zbyněk Mrkos. A name change to Filharmonie Brno followed in 2006. The orchestra has held regular New Year concerts since the beginning (except in 2021, due to Covid-19), not only welcoming the start of a new year but also celebrating its own birthday – in 2026 it will be the orchestra’s 70th.
