- Expressive overture to Janáček’s last opera, inspired by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky’s novel Notes from the House of the Dead ● A reminder of the centenary of the birth of Mieczysław Weinberg (1919-1996), an important composer of Polish-Jewish descent, who lived in Russia from the outbreak of World War II ● Concerto for Trumpet (1967), weighty enough to be described as a Symphony for Trumpet and Orchestra by Dmitri Shostakovich, performed by a young rising French star ● Orchestral suite from Bohuslav Martinů’s ballet comedy in one act, premiered at Brno’s National Theatre on 31 January 1925 under the baton of Břetislav Bakala, later the Brno Philharmonic’s first chief conductor
