Concerts held during Advent shortly before Christmas Eve are dominated by the number five, which symbolically refers to the fifth candle that people used to place in the middle of the Advent wreath and light it directly on Christmas Eve after dark. The fifth candle was white (a symbol of spiritual purity) and represented Jesus Christ himself. It was actually a messenger of light and hope…

Three works take us chronologically through the musical history of the 18th and 19th centuries: in Benda’s Sinfonia (written sometime after 1765), classicism began to “club”, in Mozart’s Violin Concerto (1775) it matured, in Kalivoda’s Symphony (1840) it provided the basis, but gave way to early romanticism.

When on sale?

You can buy the concert on its own or as part of the “CREATE YOUR OWN” season subscription from 9 June 2025 (8am) when non-renewed subscriptions are released.

The concert can be purchased as a part of the SUBSCRIPTION (Filharmonie in the Theatre I) ONLINE from 29 April and at the Ticket Office of Filharmonie Brno since 12 May 2025.

SUBSCRIOPTION RENEWAL is possible immediately when confirmed by email about the reservation in the 70th season.

The discussion with the dramaturge and his guests will take place at 6 pm in the director’s lounge. Reservations are required at besedy@filharmonie-brno.cz by 12 noon on Wednesday of the week of the concert.
