In the very year of its foundation, the Brno Philharmonic – then still a “state” orchestra – presented itself at the Prague Spring Festival (14 May 1956), where, under the baton of its first chief conductor Břetislav Bakala, it performed Vítězslav Novák’s sea fantasy The Tempest. It was symbolic, as this monumental work was created commissioned by the Beseda Brno Philharmonic Society on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its foundation and premiered on 17 April 1910 at the Beseda House (it is hard to imagine such a huge operating apparatus – six soloists, a large choir and a large orchestra – in the cramped space of the existing headquarters Brno Philharmonic, but the premiere actually took place there!).

You can buy the concert on its own or as part of the “CREATE YOUR OWN” season subscription from 9 June 2025 (8am) when non-renewed subscriptions are released.

The concert can be purchased as a part of the SUBSCRIPTION (Filharmonie in the Theatre I) ONLINE from 29 April and at the Ticket Office of Filharmonie Brno since 12 May 2025.
