- Fragments of Franz Schubert’s music (mainly from the Allegro in A minor “Lebensstürme” for piano four hands, but also from songs and other material) served as the starting point for the score by the contemporary German composer, Heinz Winbeck (born 1946) • A forceful work premiered by the Tyrolese, Martin Achrainer, the Japanese pianist, Maki Namekawa, the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and the conductor, Dennis Russel Davies, in February 2011 in Linz • Anton Bruckner’s First Symphony, a mature work by a composer then aged over 40, first performed under his baton in Linz in 1868 and later revised many times
