Alexandre Tharaud piano
This is not the first time that Alexandre Tharaud, one of the most acclaimed pianists of his generation, has played in Brno. In October 2019, as part of the Moravian Autumn festival, he gave a recital at Besední dům, enthusing the audience with his performances of pieces by famous and less well-known composers associated with Versailles: Lully, Rameau, Couperin, d’Anglebert, Royer, Duphly and Balbastre. Although he played music by old masters (17th and 18th century) on a modern piano, his touch evoked a perfect impression of period sound. Some six years later, Alexandre Tharaud returns to Brno and in addition to presenting both of Ravel’s piano concertos with Filharmonie Brno (on 16 and 17 January 2025) he offers another solo recital, whose extremely attractive programme combines works by Johann Sebastian Bach (mostly in Tharaud’s transcriptions) with music by French composers – Maurice Ravel, whose 150th anniversary we celebrate, and Paul Dukas.
The concert can be purchased as a part of a full subscription at the Ticket office of Filharmonie Brno on Besední Street and online from 27 May 2024.
The concert will be sold separately from 17 June 2024.
