A pair of exceptionally talented young musicians, each with a variety of projects and collaborations, present an exclusive repertoire that will convince you of their deep artistic and human connection.
María Grand is a tenor saxophonist originally from Switzerland and based in New York. In 2018, she was voted Best New Artist in a critical poll by the influential Jazz Times magazine and was nominated for the Jazz Journalists Association’s Emerging Musician of the Year Award. After all, it’s no surprise when her debut EP TetraWind, released the year before, was named one of the best jazz debuts of the year by NYC Jazz Record and her first full-length album , Magdalena, was named one of the top ten jazz albums of 2018 in Billboard magazine’s critics’ poll.
In her relatively short career, María Grand has managed to perform with a number of great musicians and musicians, especially from the progressive jazz scene, including Vijay Iyer, Steve Coleman, Craig Taborn, Mary Halvorson and Aaron Parks. The artist leads the ensemble DiaTribe and has toured Europe, the United States and South America as its leader and as a member of other ensembles, playing in clubs, large concert halls and prestigious festivals.
Pianist Maya Keren is originally from Philadelphia and, like María Grand, lives in New York. She has studied in a number of arts courses, workshops and masterclasses and graduated from Princeton University in 2022 with a degree in Music and African American Studies. The very next year she debuted her album Blebba Grows. She also currently leads the band Careful In The Sun, which will release its first album in the fall of 2025, while completing her second solo album , Slow Burn. Alongside this, she is involved in a number of other projects with Bill Frisell and Brandon Ross, among others.
