Less than fifty years after the Cologne Concert , Japanese pianist Maki Namekawa and French pianist Thomas Enhc took upJarrett’s material from The Cologne Concert and together presented it in four hopelessly sold-out concerts at the Philharmonie de Paris in 2023. The project that breathed new life into the legendary album will now receive its Czech premiere. The Brno audience has a lot to look forward to!
The date 24.1.1975 has been written in golden letters in the history of jazz. On that day, Keith Jarrett performed in front of a packed auditorium at the Cologne Opera House and played more than an hour-long set of improvisations on the border between jazz and classical music, the subsequent release of which on the newly founded Munich-based ECM label caused a sensation. The album The Cologne Concert became the best-selling solo album in jazz history and the best-selling piano recording ever.
