GEORG FRIEDRICH HÄNDEL Solomon, oratorio HWV 67
Orchestra & Choir of the Age of Enlightenment
conductor Jonathan Butt
The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment is one of the world’s most renowned period instrument ensembles dedicated to the enlightened performance of early music. Its history began in the mid-1980s when it was founded by a group of musicians dissatisfied with conventional orchestral practice. The ensemble does not have a chief conductor, but is always looking for exceptional artistic partners for individual projects. Sir Simon Rattle, Vladimir Jurowski, Iván Fischer, and Sir Charles Mackerras have all worked closely with the ensemble.
At the Moravian Autumn, the ensemble will also perform with soloists and choir and, under the baton of Jonathan Butt, will perform Handel’s large-scale oratorio Solomon from 1748.
