Do you like to flip through the calendar? Do you sometimes daydream when you look at it and imagine what happened on that day exactly 100, 150, 200… years ago? Do you enjoy anniversaries, preferably round ones, and holidays? We do, and accordingly we have also prepared a series of family concerts in the 2024/2025 season. We will commemorate important anniversaries of premieres of compositions, births of composers, musical events, holidays and so on, which are related to the respective period in which the concert takes place. The main dramaturge (the one who selects the compositions) is therefore time. And in a way you will be too, because we will give you the opportunity to choose one song for each concert – democratically, of course. Come with us to create, listen and have fun.
Georges Bizet and Maurice Ravel were two important French composers. The former is, among others, the author of the famous opera Carmen, whose world premiere took place 150 years ago, on 3 March 1875 in Paris. Just four days later, on 7 March 1875, Maurice Ravel, the creator of the popular Bolero or the fairy-tale-like musical cycle My Mother Goose, was born in the north-western Iberian island near the Spanish border.
For children, a music workshop is prepared in the foyer of the Besední dům from 9:15 pm (free admission and no registration). At the same time, adults can attend an expert lecture by musical guests.
The concert can be purchased as part of a full subscription at the Ticket office of Filharmonie Brno on Besední Street and online from 27 May 2024.
The concert will be sold separately from 17 June 2024.
