Emil Drápela, the principal clarinettist and clarinet section leader of Filharmonie Brno, bids farewell to the orchestra after more than four decades. At his final concert, this outstanding musician will appear as part of Sonata a tre, a group he co-founded in 1992. Drápela combines the profession of a principal player with that of a soloist and has also performed in several chamber ensembles. He has recorded about 250 pieces of the clarinet repertoire for Czech Radio, including Classical and Romantic concertos whose scores he himself reconstructed from parts. He has also premiered and recorded a number of contemporary works, many of which were dedicated to him.
