Event Details

Hans Krása (1899–1944) is widely known for his children’s opera Brundibár, which played an important part in the cultural activities of Jews deported to the Theresienstadt concentration camp, providing them with hope in the victory of good over evil – in accordance with the story and the ideas expressed in the work. Krása himself was held prisoner in Theresienstadt for two years, before being murdered by Nazis at Auschwitz. Brundibár was often staged after the war to commemorate Krása’s fate and the atrocities of war.
